Thinking inside the box

This is Comfy
Originally uploaded by Ella's Ma.

It's the start of a bank holiday weekend. Yippee! I'm not sure what that means but Daddy collected me early from the creche today. Some of the other children in the creche were dressed up today - and there have been loads of spiders, pumkins, ghosts and bats hanging from the ceiling all week. I think this is something to do with my mammy's birthday but I'm not quite sure what...

In the creche they let me feed myself my dinner now. It's fun but it means I go through at least 2 sets of clothes a day! Mammy is slightly less up for the mess I think. I'm learning to drink out of a cup now too. I had pear and apple juice today.

Daddy's been reading some books about setting up your own business recently. He's talking about thinking outside the box a lot. And then he brings these boxes home. Just as well he wants to think outside the box - because he'd never fit into these boxes.

Tomorrow we're off to Galway for the weekend. So I'm sure I'll have a mega post with loads of photos and maybe even some video next week.

Promises, promises...

Sheesh, the pressure

talk to me

Ok, yes I'm still here. But we've been busy. There haven't been so many photo opportunities, Mammy needs to put the tape back in the video camera so she can capture me walking and also need to start using the flash again now that it's winter. These photos are very dark. And it's not just because I'm in black!

New things for me in last 10 days
- walk across the room by myself. Sometimes I fall over but not very often. And if I have someone's hand to hold, I can walk as far as I want.
- crawl up the stairs, but not, sadly, open the stair gates so Mammy is always right behind me
- two new teeth confirmed, making a grand total of 7 - 3 up, 4 down. There may be more to come...

I have a fierce craving for a Farley's Rusk

What are these
Originally uploaded by Ella's Ma.
Well it's the weekend again so I've time to blog. Wow today was busy. Mammy's friend Monica was here last night. She helped collect me from the creche and played with me till bedtime. So I got to talk to liam on the phone. Well he did all the talking...

Today Daddy was away so we went into town with Monica and saw her in a pretty bridesmaid dress. Then I had a snooze and when I woke up Mammy had lots of extra bags. We had lunch in Arnotts and I think we're going back there again because they were very helpful - they heated my food and carried Mammy's tray and got me a high chair and heated my bottle. On the way home, we went to the park so I could go on the swings because I was such a good girl in town.

After we got home, I watched some tv and had my first farleys rusk, inspired by a blog entry from my Auntie Jill. And it was pretty good, I must say Pretty Yummy

Watching Superman

watching superman

At the weekend I watched Superman. It's a classic apparently. Once I have finished mastering this walking thing, I'll have to start thinking about flying!

In the meantime, I'm making good progress with the old walking. I don't fall over nearly so much now and I can stop, have a think about it and set off again without even sitting down. Next weekend I'll try to get Mammy to video it so you can all see too...

My first trip to the zoo

what's next
Originally uploaded by Ella's Ma.
So this afternoon, we all got dressed in our warm clothes and off we went to the zoo. I've never seen so many animals and they weren't all doggies. We saw lions and tigers and tortoises, all kinds of monkeys and chimps and cute animals like meerkats and lemurs. I wasn't allowed to touch any of them - this tiger was pretty close but he was on the other side of glass and anyway he didn't seem that interested in me. A great big tortoise crawled over specially to see me when we were in the south american house so I spent a bit of time with him.

this guy's pretty close
On the way home we went to the shops and I got a new toy as my present from Mammy and Daddy. After I had eaten my tea I got to play with that for a while. Then I had a lovely warn splashy bubbly bath and went to bed.

Happy Birthday To Me

Today I am One Year Old!! I got lots of cards and lots of presents. Thank you everybody. I love them all. Birthdays are very exciting things. For starters nobody went to work and I'm sure it's not the weekend. You get to have balloons.
My Balloons before I burst any

Your Daddy bakes you a cake. He's not very good at doing the icing yet but he has plenty of years to practice before I really care about those things.
My cake before I ate any He also taught me how to blow out the candles. We practiced on this candle and then Mammy helped me to blow out the candle on the cake - only every time we blew it out, it seemed to light up again so I guess we need a bit more practice too.
Get ready

We played with the balloons for a while too although I burst a few with my nice sharp nails. I wonder when Mammy will tackle the big job of cutting my nails again. Did you know that balloons can have a really weird effect on your hair? Just look at this...Whys my hair gone mad

And that was all just before lunch. After lunch got even more exciting!
