Bar-B-Q season

Bouncing with no nets

Before we came home, we had a lovely afternoon in Auntie Nicola's house. She has a new house with a big garden and a bbq and wooden floor and chairs and tables and loads of food and a trampoline. A great big trampoline. It didn't even have a net around it at first but my Daddy was getting very worried that we would bounce over the edge so he and Dave put the nets up.

Let me catch
Once the nets went up, everyone had to have a go. We made loads of grown ups get in and jump but not all at the same time. It's not that big!

Then last weekend we had a bbq in our house. The girls from the silly house were here. Sorcha showed me how to do new tricks with Jaguar my Labrador in my nintendogs game. And she showed me how to get an extra dog which was fine till I gave him away by accident (well I can't read the warning messages you know). Daddy got a me another one thought. There were lots of other children here too. But actually they were ll girls except 1 boy. We had great fun with the ball pit balls, specially throwing balls at the Daddies.

A house full of girls
We were meant to go to another BBQ tomorrow in Baby Grace's house to see her and Alex and a tiny new baby, smaller than baby annabelle called Phoebe. But I think I'm sick. I coughed all day, I have a temperature and Mammy thinks I've looked sick since I came back from holidays. And then Ríodhna got a temperature tonight too. So now none of us can go so Mammy is the only one who has seen Phoebe. I think my playdates for Sunday are cancelled too. We're going to chill out instead and get better,

Honestly sharing is caring

Honestly sharing is caring

It's summer time. So we went on a holiday. Not a long holiday. And not to Spain. That's where I wanted to go. Instead we went to Southampton. My Nana and Auntie Nic & Uncle Dave and Dylan and Jenny live there. But this time we had an extra reason to go. My Daddy was coaching the Irish softball team at the European championships. They have all been practising very hard so we went along to cheer them on - its called being the 16th man (although in softball is either the 11th or the 13th man or woman).

Builders sand is great for sandcastles
We went on a ferry. That's a boat big enough to drive your car on to. After you get on there's not so much to do. We watched some of one of the Cinderella movies. And Ríodhna walked around a lot. My little sister doesn't like to sit still. When we got off the boat we still had to drive for ages but we were very good and we had plenty of snacks and everything else we needed with us in our car.

We stayed in Nana's and then we stayed in a silly house where the kitchen was upstairs. We stayed there with lots of girls and their mammy. The Daddies had to stay with the team.
The anthems
We saw a good bit of softball, had quite a lot of picnics and packed lunches, went to some places to play and did some shopping. We both got new shoes. Mine are runners with cats on them and they light up and I got a cat toy and a book with them too. I love them and I am now ignoring my Lelli Kellis and have worn them every day since I got them. They're not quite so white any more but Mammy's not doing a bad job keeping them clean. Ríodhna got yellow shoes. I've never had yellow shoes. They are harder than her first pair which is good because she was walking on the sides of those ones.

Anyway back to softball. You can run around a lot while you're watching it. And it's on grass so Ríodhna can't hurt herself. And except for the last day there weren't so many people there. That was the important day. We had our flags. Ireland did well. But they came second which they were a little bit sad about.

Newbridge 08

uncle ross loves the swing

Uncle Ross has a tradition. Every year he has to invite all of us to his house in Newbridge and make sure we are all fed and watered. It's a good tradition. So far we've had Newbridge 07 - way back before Ríodhna was born. Ross provided location and booze. Jill & Mark cooked the food. This time we have Ríodhna and Auntie Emma has a baby in her tummy. Someone having a baby in their tummy may well be part of the tradition too. Mammó took charge of the food with Jill doing started. Uncle Jamie was very excited - something about Tesco and great value on wine so you have to buy the good stuff. So everybody did.

Although there's no children living with Ross and Denise, there is a swing. Look. We entertained Ross and Mark with the swing for hours.

There were games from grown-ups too. They were mostly all trying to play baseball on something called a Wii (Wee?) - it looked very funny. They were just hitting out into fresh air. At bedtime, we had to go home but I think Mark and Ross and Jill played with the Wii a lot that night. I'm not sure whether Mammó joined in or not though.
