My first day at school

After months, then weeks and then finally days of a countdown, I started school today. I had to get dressed in my school uniform this morning. Except I had no tie because we had to collect that in school. Then Mammy and Daddy both walked me to school. It's not a long walk so we didn't take too long to get there. We could see all the other children arriving when we got close to the gate.

There were loads of children in the schoolyard. But we spotted Archie pretty quickly and I was delighted to see him. We had a chat and looked around outside. Henry was there too. He would have liked to start school too but he has to wait till next year.

Then we queued up to go inside. I found my class and I'm in the same class as Archie which is great. We found a table together with another boy called David and a girl called Jenny. There were pictures to colour and crayons so I got straight down to work. I didn't mind at all when Mammy and Daddy left. Then Mammy ran back in and put a tie on me and I still didn't mind when she left the 2nd time.

Mammy came to collect me at 12. She wasn't the first parent to arrive but what was ok because I was still making jigsaws so I made her wait for me. Mammy had to go to work in the afternoon so I stayed home with Johanna and we went to get Ríodhna from creche. I didn't wear my uniform though and Maria wanted to see my school uniform so I'll have to go back again tomorrow in my uniform.

So I now go to St Mary's Schol and I am in Junior Infants 2 which is Ms Finnegan's class. She's very nice. I think I'll go back tomorrow...

A little "me" time

So Ella is still in Mammó's. I don't know when she's coming back. She sas sent us some emails and she has been really busy. She has been to the beach and visited lots of relations. It sounds like she's having fun.

I'm having fun too. It's strange. I've been going in to creche every day this week by myself with no Ella. But I like it. I'm getting a lot of attention. Mammy has been dropping me in. And yesterday she had a surprise new person to meet me when she picked me up. Her name is Johanna and she is our au pair. I'm not quite sure what that means at the moment but she gave me some great stickers and a cool frog. So I'm happy to try her out.

Nana was here but she's gone to Cork and Daddy is gone to Cork too So we couldn't stay all by ourselves in our house. We had to go somewhere too. So Mammy and ella and me packed our bags for the night and I brought my fifi bed and off we went to Newbridge to Uncle Ross' house. We weren't the only ones with that idea. Mammo was there. And Emma and Jamie and baby Clare. And Mark and Jill. Jill's tummy is starting to get a bit big now because she's getting us another cousin for Christmas. Clare can stand up and hold on to things (if I don't drag her down that is). Brenda was there too, helping Ross to make enough food to feed all of us. She also helped us to clean off Ross's swing so we could swing in the back garden.

It's a fun house. There's a great big budda bag that we can jump on and all sit on at the same time but it's not a trampoline - even though I thought it was. There are games on the tv and loads of things to eat - even healthy stuff. Because Daddy wasn't there, there was enough room for ella and Mammy to sleep in the bed in his spare room and I slept on my fifi bed on the floor and I stayed in it all night which is the first time I've ever done that.

On Sunday morning Mammy came downstairs with us first but then she went back up to bed and let Ross and Brenda play with us for a while. And then she went to do some messages but that was ok because we were very busy outside in the garden and having snacks and drinks. When she came home and I woke up from my nap on the couch, we had to go back to Dublin. But we left Ella behind. She's gone to wexford with Mammó for a holiday because she's finished in creche now. I miss her quite a lot. I wasn't too happy when I realised she was staying behind and I cried for a few minutes but mammy didn't go back so then I gave up. I think I'll have some fun on my own but it's weird her not being here.

Memory Lane

I had my last day in creche today. We've been building up to it for a while - there have been lots of last days in the last few weeks. Now Joanna is the only one from my gang left at creche.

Nana is here at the moment so we stayed at home last Friday with her and then we stayed at home some days this week too. That was handy because on Wednesday, we made cupcakes and chocolate cheerios to take to creche for my party for my last day. Yesterday we had a sports day. It actually didn't rain at all which is quite unusual this summer so we had great fun doing loads of races and we all got medals.



Today I decided I needed to wear a dress for my last day. I had a lovely time. Everyone was very sad to know that it was my last day but they liked all my cakes. And Lina gave me some photos - they are a selection of the photos of me in every room in the creche - from baby room right up to montessori. We had great fun looking at all of those and talking about all my good friends.

Tooth Fairy

Well despite all sorts of predictions from Monica and Liam, my tooth didn't take long to fall out. It fell out yesterday in creche. It went under the radiator. And I couldn't find it anywhere. But I knew exactly what to do from my Charlie and Lola book because she loses her first wobbly tooth when it falls out too so I wasn't too worried. For those of you who don't know, when you go asleep, you think happy thoughts so you will smile in your dreams and the tooth fairy will see the gap in your teeth because your mouth is open and she will leave some money anyway). My tooth really was clean and shiny. I promise that.

Nana came to visit us yesterday evening. So we all watched the Peppa Pig tooth fairy episode and when I went to bed, we read Charlie and Lola and then I went to sleep. The smiling must have worked. Mammy had to go to work early so she was gone before I woke up properly so she didn't know but the tooth fairy left me 5 euro - that was 3 coins. I think you get more for your first tooth.

We didn't even go to creche today because Nana was here and Daddy was home from work because he has been sick but he is nearly better now. So I have to wait until monday to tell them about the tooth fairy. And then I only have 5 more days left in creche.
